How does politics influence my relationship with natives?

Growing up in a politically charged environment, I have always been aware of how politics can shape relationships with people, particularly with natives. Living in a country with a complex history of colonialism and indigenous marginalization, politics has always played a significant role in my interactions with native individuals and communities.

One way politics influences my relationship with natives is through policies and government decisions that directly impact their lives. For centuries, native communities have been subjected to discriminatory laws and practices that have eroded their land rights, cultural heritage, and overall well-being. As a result, many natives have a deep mistrust of the government and non-indigenous people like myself. This mistrust can make it difficult to build positive and respectful relationships with natives, as they may view me as representative of a system that has harmed them.

Furthermore, my political beliefs and actions can also influence my relationship with natives. As someone who believes in social justice and equality, I am committed to supporting native rights and advocating for their empowerment. However, I must also be mindful of how my privilege and position as a non-indigenous person can impact my interactions with natives. It is essential for me to listen to native…
